Formidable Forms 7.0 combines changes to data access with new controls over how long submissions remain on a site. In the October 14 release notes, the developer records hardening for the field-value shortcode and additional filtering for Lookup and Dynamic field data. The same update introduces form settings for automatic entry deletion.
Spam entries now have their own support and scheduled cleanup, while submission limits can be defined as a total count or for a time period. These changes give administrators more explicit tools for managing what happens after a visitor presses Submit.
Retention needs a decision before a timer
An automatic deletion setting is useful only when the site owner has decided what should be retained. A short-lived competition entry and an application still being reviewed may need different handling. Before enabling a deletion policy, check exports, any downstream integration and the process used to retrieve older submissions.
Do not treat the name of a privacy-related setting as proof that an entire data-handling process is compliant. The form, the email notification and the system receiving an exported copy can all retain different versions of the same information.
Large forms get attention too
Formidable also reports faster calculations on forms with many fields and a new index table for Lookup and Dynamic fields. These are vendor-reported improvements, not a benchmark of a particular site’s form. The release adds keyboard operation for range sliders and several other accessibility changes.
A useful staging check is to submit an existing multi-page form, return to an earlier page and confirm that calculated and conditional values remain consistent. Include a keyboard-only pass and one invalid submission; the error state is part of the form, not a separate finishing detail.
Pro 7.0.1 and its free core
Formidable’s installation guide distinguishes the free plugin from the Pro extension. The Pro archive below identifies itself as version 7.0.1; the free core remains version 7.0. They are separate installable files, not an all-add-ons collection.
