What This Update Means
This release concentrates on the markup behind variation selection. Stable dropdown identifiers and names matter when product forms submit a chosen attribute. The option prompt also needs to remain clear before a shopper makes a selection. Restricting aria-label values avoids emitting inappropriate attribute data. That change supports cleaner accessibility output without introducing a new swatch style. Stores should test default, unavailable and freshly selected variations. Keyboard navigation deserves the same attention as mouse and touch input. Keeping Pro and free core aligned avoids an unnecessary component mismatch.
GetWooPlugins puts product variations closer to the customer in its Variation Swatches product documentation. Instead of keeping every choice inside a dropdown, the plugin can present attributes as colour, image, button or radio selections. The Pro feature set also covers catalogue-page swatches and tooltips.
That changes where the purchase decision begins. A shopper can encounter a colour choice in a product grid before opening the full product page. The presentation still has to match WooCommerce’s actual variation data; a coloured circle is not an independent stock record.
A visual choice must resolve to a real variation
Start with one item that has two attributes, such as colour and size. Select an available combination, an unavailable combination and a combination with a different price. Confirm that the image, stock message, price and basket line all describe the same selection.
Include a keyboard pass. A customer who cannot distinguish two colours still needs a meaningful name, a visible selected state and a way to move between choices. A more attractive control is not automatically a more understandable one.
Keep the free and Pro components distinct
The downloads below are the 2.6.2 Pro package and the separate 2.6.2 free core listed by GPLHub. The official WordPress directory also identifies the free product’s 2.6.2 release line. Sharing a version number does not make the two files interchangeable.
When refreshing an existing store, record the attribute terms and any per-product overrides before changing the files. A global swatch setting can look correct on one product while an older override controls another.
A Variation Swatches Pro nulled description does not provide an official update channel or certify a particular theme combination. This page supplies the two named plugin components, not a replacement WooCommerce catalogue or a bundle of unrelated product-option extensions.
